I've had mine for a couple weeks and, so far, have used it twice. Works great and is no heavier than my old 12 volt cordless that I've had for about 5 years. The 18 volt battery was a plus for me since I purchased the B&D cordless trimmer last spring, and it uses the same battery(I got 2 with the trimmer). This drill offers more power than you'll ever need for household projects. And having only 5 torque settings isn't really a big deal either. I had no problem assembling a plastic table for my grandsons for Christmas and never stripped one screw. The only drawback that I can see is the storage case could have been designed a little better. You have to remove the battery to put the drill back in the case. But, there is room for everything, including the stud-finder, in the case.

To be honest, I would buy this product again and I've already recommended it to a number of friends.

I bought this drill to replace my 25 year old Craftsman 9.6v for which they no longer make batteries. Disappointed doesn't even come close. This unit has never been able to hold a charge since day one. Don't let it sit over night without recharging. It won't have any power in the morning. I finally sucked it up and bought a Makita 6260 9.6v. It was a whole lot more than I paid for this piece of junk. But then again, you get what you pay for. I've always told my kids buy the best you can afford and you won't be disappointed. I finally listened to myself.

The drill has great torque and is much better at preserving screw heads than any B&D I've ever used. The flashlight is good too, although not as strong as a comparable sized led lamp. Overall the batteries charge fast, the cradle has an indicator, and it's always been there for me between charges when I've needed it. Good buy for home fixes.

I purchased the Hitachi 12Volt drill after my Dewalt 9.6V bit the dust. The latter was old, awkward and had a broken chuck collar so I was happy to see it go. The Hitachi is light and has reasonable toque. It is well balanced and stable standing on its battery pack. I use it in tandem with my Panasonic 12V, probably the best rechargeable drill I've ever purchased. The Hitachi gets the basics done and I have no complaints after 1 month of use.

Very honest gentleman at the store recommended this drill and i got it thinking i'd use it around the house. drilled a couple holes here and there but when i took it to a job site it couldn't stand up to the ryobi or the dewalt out there. after only about 20 deck screws it started smoking a little from the vents near the back.

maybe it was because it was still really new, and others on here have said theirs had plenty of torque, but this guy didn't do it for me (especially on the high speed/low torque position) and the high speed could be higher as well.

so again, around the house is probably fine. very light weight, quick charge.

I absolutely love this tool. I use it all the time and I can't say enough good about it. Its powerful, the batteries last forever (All day of continuous use). The balance is great, and the motor has huge torque (it was actually pulled from my grip once). The only complaint is that the bit holder can't actually hold any normal bits because of its weird design (it can only hold little bitty ones). But since I only use Phillips and square drive screws and I have a dual bit, its not a big deal for me.



I am so impressed that I am going to replace my new Maytag dishwasher(one of the worst I have ever had - I'll never trust Consumer Reports again)with a Bosch (even though Consumer Reports gave it a good review).



Every Bosch tool I have has exceeded my expectations to the point now that if I need a tool, and Bosch makes it, I will buy it from Bosch.

I've owned this drill for 2 years, and have used it for a variety of household projects (I've built my basement, washroom and outdoor fencing with this thing). Other reviews will point out the power and durability of this unit..which is fantastic for it's size..but more importantly, and often not addressed, is the grip mold & hand fatigue. This is where it excels. From the many drills I've used throughout the years this is by far the best I've encountered in this case. Sweaty palms will not be such an issue during a hard days work. The grip itself perfectly fits into my medium-sized hands. It's really a joy to work with. The warranty is also something to think about (not that I've even needed it), but kudos to Bosch for backing up their product.



I'm sure you'll enjoy it for many years.

I love this drill. It is extremely comfortable and powerful. Screws go into any wood like a hot knife through butter. It seems to have more settings than necessary (I only use one) but that doesn't bother me. The chuck closes quickly and bits stay tight. The battery charges even faster than I need it to. I still have my old Makita 12V which I use to avoid switching bits and drivers too often, but when that battery gets used up and I use the Bosch to drive in the screws the difference is extreme.

This Black & Decker is one of my most useful Amazon purchases in years. It's handsome, compact, and useful for around the house and garden. I use it mainly for light drilling, electronics, and household repair tasks. I've used it to drill holes in plastic and ceramic flower pots, and recently put together a 2x4basics AnySize Chair or Bench, Green, 09210 with it. It's powerful enough to drive a screw clean through solid pine with no effort.





Pros:

- long-lasting battery pack. I charged it months ago and it's still going on the same charge

- perfectly balanced in right-angle mode (upside-down L shape) and easy to hold

- powerful motor; suitable for everything I've needed it for around the house and backyard

- handy, protective hard plastic carrying case that keeps all parts and accessories neatly organized

- carrying case has compartment for keeping all drill bits in one place

- chuck is secure and easy to change out (push in the "nose" and hold, with other hand, remove the bit)

- can use drill bits and attachments from my other screwdriver/tool sets because the hole is standard





Cons:

- Not sure how long charge time is. I left it plugged in for 8+ hours and the light was still red.

- very bottom heavy because of battery pack. If you set it to vertical mode, the center of gravity changes to below the grip handle, making it very awkward to hold. Because of this, I never angle it past the 2nd position.

- head should be narrower and longer. If you need to reach a lot of tight spots, this unit may not be your best choice. I had trouble assembling my bench because of the angles.





Overall, a very sturdy and solid feeling product. It's attractive and useful, but consider the battery weight, neck size and shape before buying. I like this product a lot, despite the caveats.

Received the tool ready to go, but I tested it to see if any of the problems noted by others were evident; notably runout in the chuck. None! It's well-centered, powerful, and runs very well. I have old, 12-V cordless DeWalt drills, and in comparison this is much, much nicer. I like being able to tighten the chuck with one hand, as it locks and allows turning without holding "the other part of" the drill. All around good tool; I've used it mostly for screwing in 3/8" lag screws, and it does that well...

This drill kicks A$$! A lot of power and a great price for a dewalt 18 volt. Came with back up battary and charger, so I never lose power.
