My father had the Yankee version of these long before I came along, so I have been exposed to the basic tool idea for years. However, I've been using cordless drills for drilling and driving, but have noticed lately that the batteries don't hold a charge more than a day or so. So I thought for the price this would be a good back up, or even a replacement. It functions quite well to drive phillips multi-purpose screws directly into cedar without drilling holes first.
I wish it weren't made in China, but whatcha gonna do?

Works fine as a drill, not as good as a screwdriver. The extra torque that was needed when trying to remove screws made the action a little rough.

My dad used to have one of these ("Yankee Screwdriver" types in his workshop - so I was very happy to find this @ Amazon - and for a reasonable price. It works as advertised, and so far, no hiccups.

For those little jobs when you don't need that big, heavy power drill -- putting up a small shelf, hanging pictures, installing cup hooks, etc.,this works terrific -- quick and easy -- and especially lightweight. Takes all 1/4" hex bits, so I already had a lot of bits and such that will fit this.
I bought two of them, one for me and one for my daughter. She is also very satisfied with it.
I would definitely recommend this.
